Ratios Of Adults To Children
Our experience has confirmed that one of the most significant factors in providing a quality environment for children in a group setting is the number of trained professional staff and teachers with whom the children can interact and relate. Adequate staff provides better opportunity for supervision and quality care. Our program provides a variety of both trained professionals and personality types for your child to experience and increase the probability that your child will find a “special someone” to bond with.
Approach To Discipline
At A Brighter Day our approach to Discipline is in the form of re-direction. Approaches such as a "cozy area” to express feelings and emotions are used and encouraged. This down time is not a punishment and is not intended to be humiliating. It is used as a mechanism to assist the child in calming down, reassessing the situation, and re-establishing some inner control. It also provides the teacher and child an opportunity to talk about feelings and encourage positive play and classroom rules. We are happy to discuss our philosophy of developing internal discipline with you individually.
Health and Safety
Your child's health and well-being is one of our top priorities here at A Brighter Day. Proper hygiene routines are carried out throughout the day such as handwashing, proper diapering/toileting procedures and sanitizing of toys and materials. Infectious illness are made aware and mitigated through such agencies. Supervision is conducted effectively and regulated by adequate staff- to -child ratios.
Curriculum
"Education is key, we believe that every child has the capability to learn, what's necessary is who's teaching them."
- Founder of A Brighter Day K. Sutton-Watkins
While learning through play is important, small group and individualized activities are also. At A Brighter Day, the ABEKA curriculum is used. Scholars 15 months - 4 years are offered learning activities that are hands-on and cultivates their minds through cognitive development, social and emotional development, language and literacy, science, social studies, math, and reading.
